Sustainable Energy Coalition Poll Finds Strong Support for Ethanol
A public opinion poll on foreign oil dependency conducted in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the OPEC oil embargo found that eight out of ten American voters favor increasing the use of renewable transportation fuels such as ethanol to reduce the nation's dependence on imported energy.
The survey, America Speaks Out on Energy: Foreign Oil Dependency, demonstrated that 83% of American voters are concerned about the nation's vulnerability to an energy crisis at the hands of foreign oil suppliers. Voters expressed concern that the U.S. rising
oil dependency threatens the nation's economy, jobs, standard of living and the environment.
The poll was conducted by the Republican polling firm, Research/Strategy/Management, Inc., for the Sustainable Energy Coalition, a coalition of 35 national business, environmental, consumer and energy policy organizations that support shifting federal support from nuclear power and fossil fuels to renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.
