to Head Coalition

Indiana Governor Frank
O'Bannon will become the Coalition's eighth chairman in January 1998 and
Kansas Governor Bill Graves will assume the vice chairmanship.

At the last Coalition meeting, Governor O'Bannon
praised the work of the group and pledged to continue the work of out-going
chair and Iowa Governor Terry Branstad.
"I am enthusiastic about assuming the chairmanship
of the Coalition. Ethanol is playing an increasingly important role in
reducing our dependence on imported oil, cleaning our air and boosting
economic development in rural America. As the Governor of Indiana and chairman
of the Governors' Ethanol Coalition for 1998, Indiana looks to develop
and solidify the partnerships necessary to maintain and build ethanol's
market share. We will look for ways to leverage funds to continue building
E85 stations as well as increasing marketing programs in an effort to develop
awareness among consumers."
O'Bannon singled out the recent analysis of consumer attitudes on ethanol
as valuable work by the group. "This analysis will be instrumental
in helping develop a detailed strategy designed to open vast new markets
for ethanol," O'Bannon said.
