Iowa Governor and Coalition Chairmain Tom Vilsack

In a recent letter to California Governor Gray Davis, Iowa Governor Vilsack assured that adequate ethanol would be available to California to meet its oxygenate demand in the absence of MTBE. "You have my assurance that the industry can and will deliver all the ethanol your state needs to facilitate the market transition so that your state may maintain the air quality improvement progress made so far," Vilsack said. Vilsack also encouraged the development of an in-state ethanol industry that can provide vital rural economic stimulus from the processing of local agricultural products and waste materials in addition to the intrinsic environmental benefits.
