State E-85 Vehicle Purchases Near 1,000
Members in the Governors' Ethanol Coalition plan on adding
nearly 1,000 1997 E-85 flexible fuel Ford Tauruses for use in state fleets
according to a survey of just 11 of the 21 members.
- Colorado has committed to purchasing a minimum of 212 this spring which
will bring the total number of E-85 alternative fuel vehicles to about 300.
- Illinois has ordered 75 E-85 vehicles, and is expecting to order about 50
more.
- Indiana will receive 46 E-85 vehicles for their motor pool and state
police.
- Iowa is expected to purchase 100 new E-85 vehicles.
- Michigan has budgeted for close to 100 E-85 or compressed natural gas
vehicles. It is dependent on how quickly refueling stations can be built.
Michigan does expect to convert their 50 M-85 vehicles to E-85.
- Minnesota is adding 50 flexible fuel Ford Taurus's to their fleet.
- Missouri has 27 E-85 vehicles on order for this year.
- Montana has committed to purchasing between two and five E-85 vehicles.
There is legislation pending that would expedite this process.
- Nebraska plans on purchasing 24 new E-85 vehicles, to bring the total up
to 84.
- Oklahoma has ordered 53 flexible fuel vehicles and is expected to order 20
more.
- Wisconsin has plans to order 224 Ford Taurus flexible fuel vehicles.
The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition is working closely with each state
to site appropriate refueling facilities to accommodate the increasing vehicle
numbers.
