First Ethanol Plant to Open in Missouri

Northeast Missouri Grain Processors, LLC, a farmer-owned cooperative, recently broke ground on the first ethanol production facility in Missouri.  More than 280 farmers invested in the 15 million gallon facility, which will also produce 85 million pounds of distillers grains, a high value livestock feed.  At the grand opening, Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan signed legislative bill 153 into law extending the state's ethanol production incentive fund to 2007.
