E85 Station Opens in Nation's Capitol

Department of Defense
The Department of Defense opened its first multi-alternative fuel service station, providing E85 and compressed natural gas, in Arlington, Virginia next to the Pentagon. The station, which is now open to the public, will enable federal agency vehicles, including the White House fleet, to fuel their flexible fuel vehicles with E85. "This station will benefit the region - the District, Maryland and Virginia - not just the federal government. We expect an estimated 200,000 gallons of ethanol fuel to be pumped out of the Pentagon site in the first year alone," said Deputy Secretary of Energy T.J. Glauthier. Three additional sites are scheduled to open in the Washington, D.C. area later this year. The station will help federal agencies meet the goals of the President's Executive Order.
