With a large surplus of sugar in the U.S., the USDA announced the sale of up to 100,000 tons of government-owned sugar to ethanol producers for conversion into ethanol. Producers would be limited to 10,000 tons each. The program will be administered through the Commodity Credit Corporation, similar to the Bioenergy Program.
