U.S. Ethanol Industry Continues to Set Monthly Production Records

Over the past 20 months, the ethanol industry has set monthly production records for all but one month, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The latest record was set in May, when the industry produced more than 108,000 barrels per day, compared with 103,000 barrels per day in May of 2000. The industry is on track to produce nearly 1.8 billion gallons of ethanol in 2001, up from 1.63 in 2000.
