Adkins Energy Cooperative Formed to Build Ethanol Plant

Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin farmers have formed the Adkins Energy Cooperative to build an ethanol plant in Illinois.

The dry mill ethanol plant will produce 30 million gallons of ethanol a year, process more than 11.5 million bushels of corn and cost approximately $63 million dollars to build.

Adkins Energy has entered a joint venture with Northern Illinois Gas to construct a cogeneration facility which is included in the cost of the plant. This facility will supply all the energy needs of the plant, saving an estimated $1.7 million per year.

The Cooperative has signed a letter of intent with Delta-T Corporation for the engineering, design and construction of the facility, tentatively scheduled to be built near Lena, Illinois.

The cooperative is actively seeking membership from farmer-producers at a cost of $250 per farmer.
