State Reps Lead Committees
The committee chairs for the Coalition were
selected for 2001. The mission statement for each committee follows
the listing. They are:
Environment
Committee The Environment Committee of the Governors' Ethanol
Coalition promotes the environmental benefits of ethanol through
environmental studies and policy recommendations. Chair: Chris
Wentz, New Mexico Current Members: Illinois, Indiana, Missouri,
Nebraska and Wisconsin
Ethanol Vehicle Committee The
Ethanol Vehicle Committee of the Governors' Ethanol Coalition supports
increased use of ethanol in vehicles through monitoring and promotion of
energy efficient technologies. Chair: Hal Smedley,
Colorado Current Members: Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, North
Dakota and Wisconsin
International Committee To
build an international alliance to expand global economic development,
clean the environment and improve the international balance of trade
through the use of ethanol. The Governors' Ethanol Coalition and its
international partners will work together by sharing research and
development, exploring import/export joint ventures, increasing
international public awareness of the benefits of alcohol (ethanol) fuels
and creating an international economic climate for expansion of ethanol
fuel. Chair: Jeff Knight, Wisconsin Current Members:
Nebraska and Puerto Rico
Marketing and Economics
Committee The Marketing and Economics Committee of the
Governors' Ethanol Coalition develops and promotes marketing and economic
strategies that will expand the production and use of
ethanol. Chair: Greg Krissek, Kansas Current Members:
Kansas and Nebraska
Policy
Committee The Policy Committee of the Governors'
Ethanol Coalition develops and recommends policies that promote the
production and use of ethanol. Chair: Ralph Groschen,
Minnesota Current Members: Illinois, Indiana and
Nebraska
Research Committee The Research
Committee of the Governors' Ethanol Coalition encourages partnerships and
establishes priorities for strategic ethanol research that will result in
greater efficiencies and environmental benefits. Chair: Ted
Aulich, North Dakota Current Members: Illinois, Minnesota and
Nebraska
The Coalition's committees develop initiatives, ideas and
proposals and present them to the full membership of the group for
