Next Coalition Meeting
One of the keynote speakers at the conference will be Nebraska Governor and Coalition Chairman Mike Johanns. Other speakers at the Conference include Jason Grumet, the executive director of the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management. The Northeast states use a lot of reformulated gasoline and could potentially be a large market for ethanol. However, these states have been plagued by problems with MTBE. Another speaker will be Lynn Jensen, who will discuss his efforts as former president of the National Corn Growers Association to bring the various ethanol advocacy groups together. He will talk about the challenges and opportunities farmers face in a changing agricultural environment. There will also be a panel discussion on how to start and maintain a successful farmer-owned cooperative. The panel will be led by Amy Gales, the head of the South Dakota Value-Added Development Center. Panelists will include Ron Alverson, president of the Lake Area Corn Processors Cooperative, which is constructing a 40-million gallon ethanol plant near Madison, South Dakota, and Paul Casper, one of the leaders of the South Dakota Soybean Processors Cooperative, which operates a soybean processing plant near Volga, South Dakota. Reservations at the Ramkota Hotel can be made at an "ACE Rate" by calling 605-229-4040. After the conference on July 20th, the American Coalition for Ethanol will host a tour of the Heartland Grain Fuels ethanol plant in Aberdeen. Buses will take participants from the conference hotel to the ethanol plant for a specially guided tour of one of the nation's most successful and innovative ethanol plants. There is no registration fee for attending the ACE Conference. The only cost is for the meals, the golf tournament and the ethanol plant tour. There will be a free hospitality room on the evening of July 18th at the hotel. Registration information and an on-line form are available on the
